Frequently Asked Questions

What sized paintings can I order?

I want to keep things as easy and transparent as possible for you when it comes to ordering, so I have three sizes of painting to choose from:

Small: 20cm x 20cm

Medium: 24cm x 30cm

Large: 30cm x 40cm

How many pets can I have in one Pet Portrait?

Due to the limited space in the smallest size painting, I can only accommodate one pet on each Small Pet Portrait. The Medium size can feature up to two animals, and the Large size a maximum of three. If you have more than three pets you'd like in one painting please Get in Touch to let me know what you'd like and I'll be able to give you a custom quote.

How do you choose the orientation of the painting?

If you are ordering the Medium or Large sized paintings, I will let the photograph dictate if the finished piece is in landscape or portrait format. However if you have a particular preference please let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate this. Please be aware that the Small paintings are square so the supplied image will need to be cropped accordingly to fit.

I'd like a larger painting, is that possible?

Of course it is! Please Get in Touch to discuss your requirements and I'll be more than happy to create a bespoke quote for you.

Do you only paint pets, or is it possible to have a painting of something else?

Absolutely! As well as Pet Portraits, you can also order Custom Paintings - these are available in the same three set sizes but can be of anything from people to landscapes; special places or holiday snaps! These are slightly more expensive because they take a little more time than the Pet Portraits on offer.

Can you combine two photographs together in one painting?

For our Custom Paintings, yes I can! When supplying me with the images, please let me know what you'd like with as much detail as possible. Please be aware I may need to charge extra for additional time if there are more than two images to be combined, but please send me your thoughts and I'll do all I can to accommodate your ideas.

Will my painting look the same as a photograph?

Whilst I copy your supplied photograph to create the artwork, my unique painting style will create something that looks - in my opinion - much more uniquely special than a photograph. Head over to the Gallery page to see my painting style - if you like it, then I'm certain you'll love your own painting!

What materials do you use for the paintings?

I use high quality heavy-body acrylic paint on canvas board, which are approximately 3mm thick.

Why do you use canvas boards?

Canvas boards offer a very similar surface texture to a stretched canvas but are thinner and more lightweight than the stretched version. This means they are more sturdy and stable for postage, making them easier and more cost effective to send (and I want to make things as affordable as I can for my customers)! They are also safer to package meaning they are less likely to get damaged in transit - the Small paintings can even be posted through most letterboxes.

How do I order?

You can order paintings via my Etsy Store. Head over to the How to Order page for more information and the link to my shop.

How do I get my photograph to you?

Once you have placed your order, please attach your photograph to an email and send to me at: pawtraitsandprints@gmail.com. Please remember to include in the email your Etsy Order Number (which will be on your order confirmation from Etsy), along with any additional information and requirements you may need. Please note if the image quality is too low to interpret into a painting I may need to contact you for another image. Any images deemed inappropriate or harmful will not be processed and I will cancel the order and issue a refund.

How long does it take you to complete a painting?

As each custom painting is made-to-order, so I ask customers to allow a lead-time of up to 10 days from me receiving you order until I dispatch your finished piece of art. This gives me the time to ensure your painting is looking its best! From time to time there may be busier periods where this will take a little longer - but please rest assured that I will be transparent about any increased lead-times upon receiving your order.

How do you package the paintings for shipment?

All paintings are protected with cushioned wrapping, corner protectors and secured with sturdy cardboard packaging ready for shipment.

How will they be posted to me?

All paintings are dispatched using Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery service.

What if I change my mind, do you accept returns?

As all custom paintings are made-to-order I unfortunately cannot accept returns or cancellations, and therefore cannot issue refunds if you change your mind. If you make an order in error you need to get in contact with me via email as soon as possible - I begin the painting within 24hrs of receiving the order's photograph and once commenced the order unfortunately cannot be cancelled.

What can I do if the painting arrives damaged?

I do everything I can to ensure your piece of art arrives with you in the same pristine condition as when it was dispatched. However, in the unlikely event that the item arrives to you damaged, please contact me via email about what has happened and with evidence of the damage and I'll do all I can to rectify this.

How can I display my painting on I have it?

Another reason that I love canvas boards is that they are lightweight enough to display directly on walls with adhesive hanging strips. They can also be rested on a desktop easel or plate stand; or placed in a frame. I do recommend removing the glass however so that the paint texture is visible without any reflections or glare that may be visible from the glass surface.
